The Haut à Courroies, or HAC, was designed in the late 1800’s for the purpose of transporting riding gear: saddle, boots, hunting equipment, etc. It is the predecessor to the much younger Hermès Birkin. The HAC is taller than the Birkin, and has shorter straps.

Historical parenthesis: it was after a chance meeting in 1983 on a Concorde flight, between Jean-Louis Dumas - Hermès’ Chairman - his HAC and Jane Birkin who requested a smaller and less rigid version of the model than his Kelly, that a year later another icon was born: the Birkin.

Bag is in excellent pre-loved condition, hardly carried and well kept.
